Ikea will be opening a new kind of store in Bromley High Street

Bromley is about to see another huge change as Swedish furniture behemoth Ikea will soon open the doors on a new sort of store. The new Ikea Planning Studio, set to open in Bromley High Street, offers customers a personalised service devoted to planning kitchens and bedrooms, and is part of the retailers approach to city living and changes in the way people shop.

The store will replace the former Mothercare and Early Learning site and is due to open in spring 2019.Though normal Ikea branches are usually huge out-of-town warehouses packed to the brim with showrooms, endless aisles of cardboard boxes and an impossibly busy cafe, the new branch will be totally different.

Similar to one at Tottenham Court Road, this Ikea branch will be a store where you can order items for delivery and plan your home layouts, though it will also have a large area to look at home furnishings.

This is what the new Ikea store in Bromley can be expected to look like Jane Bisset, IKEA London City Centre Market Leader, said: “The opening of our new Planning Studio in Bromley will mark the next exciting step in our city centre approach as we bring IKEA to the heart of urban areas in London.

“We are looking forward to opening our doors to the people of Bromley and providing the expert advice you’d expect from IKEA, alongside a great service package and delivery offer.”

At 900 square metres, the spacious shop will offer plenty of room to browse, plan and order products. Visitors will also be able to order Ikea furniture and accessories online.

The announcement follows the opening of a Lidl supermarket on Bromley High Street and the Vue Cinema down the road on St Mark’s Square.
